Red at Macbeth

Red at Macbeth

Not sure how I wound up last Sunday strutting down red carpets at the premier of Macbeth, and then people-watching at the afterparty too, but I sure did not complain! Any excuse to wear a dress, and get some culture.

Just to avoid confusion, I’m talking about Macbeth the film, with Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard. So it happens that it’s out worldwide tonight. Read on »

West End Bandstand fun

West End Bandstand fun

The weather finally turned, if only for two days or so. The first real summer’s night we had was on Thursday, a real treat as we were headed over to Glasgow to watch From Scotland With Love, a film made up of archive footage, set to King Creosote’s score.

It was the setting that made the occasion really special, the Kelvingrove Bandstand and Amphitheatre was just done up this last year, and the screening began just as the last rays of sun hit the tops of the West End’s trees.

Lots of casual red lipstick, plastic cups of cider on ice and many easy laughs were the norm as the good few thousand strong crowd sat on the shiny new benches, enjoying the support band, and waiting for the film to begin to roll.

It felt great to be outdoors after dark, have so many happy people around, breathe in the night air and to sit there with my Boy, holding hands, taking in glimpses of a hundred years’ worth of footage from Scotland’s every nook and cranny.

BBC has some clips from the film, so head over there if you’re curious.
