My (vintage) camera stash

My (vintage) camera stash

I love old photography gear, and I love doing the entire film-to-paper process myself too. I’m not into it to any crazy ebay-stalking meetup-going extent, but just enough that I have three oldschool cameras at home and spent enough time in darkrooms around Edinburgh to develop film and enlarge negatives with my eyes closed.

Wintertime in Scotland is perfect for spending evenings in the darkroom anyway. Once xmas is over and there’s not much to do in the dark nights, I’ll begin to go more regularly again. I’ll tell you all about that too, but until then I thought I’d show you around my stash of analouge gear, first up, the cameras themselves.

Old equipment like these always come with their stories, so for the next few weeks I’ll be telling you those and showing some of my favourite photographs from each too. If you’re not into cameras, I know you will like the stories!

Really, I’m just one of those bah-humbug people to be honest. But the one thing I do love about the period is all the fairy lights and good-looking holiday decoration that goes up at this time of the year.

In the evenings I like to get off the bus at the far end of Princes Street and pick different routes to walk the rest of the way home, spying shop windows or ambling through the german market. I guess you could say that it’s part of my festive routine? Read on »

Resolution / insipration

Resolution / insipration

It’s been a while! I’ve been resetting, re-evaluating and rebooting.

I’m looking for new ways to be the very myself here, more than at any time in the past four months. This blog started out as a sort of experiment to create an online persona, a sort of aspirational self-reflection, never a lie, but never truly the full me either. I wasn’t going to share my background or my ups or downs, and only show what’s ideal. Yet the posts that felt best were all the ones about the quirky and weird things I love most in life. So: no more filters!
